Artist's Biography

Corinne DiGiovanni was born and raised just outside of Chicago, IL. She received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking from Barat College in Lake Forest, IL. Her custom murals have been commissioned for numerous homes and businesses in the Chicago area. Her paintings have also been shown in multiple Chicago-area galleries. Corinne moved to Tucson in 2004 to participate in AmeriCorps, a national program that links volunteers with organizations for a year of community service. After a year of service and an additional year and a half of exploring Tucson, she has decided that it is time to pursue her mural and painting career in the Tucson area.

Corinne's artwork is influenced by such great artists as: Frida Kahlo, Gustav Klimt, Leonardo Da Vinci, Salvador Dali, Ann Hamilton, and Francis Bacon. Similar to the moment when one falls asleep, her images and concepts come to her in the time of conscious sleep. The use of repetition in pattern and color are the main elements in her work, while the juxtaposition of figures breathe life into the complex abyss. The patterns represent the beautiful intricacies of our unconscious minds and the figures represent the daily human interactions that keep us grounded.

Corinne's goals are to provoke thoughts and feelings from the observation of our own subconscious minds. What is hidden? What drives us? What scares us? In the end we are all the same. We are all driven by the same basic needs and desires. Take a close look at Corinne's artwork--otherwise you might just glance over the small details and miss the big picture.
